Start by making a copy of this disk and filing the original away for
safekeeping.

This disk contains the following files:
* ELRAY.DIC
* BORLAND.DIC
* WORD.DIC
* WORDSTAR.DIC
* PRINT.DIC
* READ.ME
ELRAY.DIC is the complete, 981 word Elray Software Legal Dictionary.
BORLAND.DIC, WORD.DIC and WORDSTAR.DIC are edited versions of the
Elray Software Legal Dictionary.
PRINT.DIC is a version of ELRAY.DIC which can be printed or used in a
window application.
READ.ME is this file.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Each of the four dictionary files on this disk is an alphabetical
listing of English and Latin legal words written in ASCII text,
and is specifically intended to supplement word processors with
built-in spell-checkers which can read or write ASCII text files.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
BORLAND.DIC, WORD.DIC and WORDSTAR.DIC contain only those words
that are not already contained in the main dictionaries of
*Borland's Turbo Lightning spell-checker (the FLP-DISK.DIC file);
*Microsoft Word Ver. 4.0; and *WordStar Ver. 4.0, respectively.
The WORD.DIC file, for example, contains 491 legal words which
can be loaded into one of the supplemental *Microsoft Word user
created dictionary files. The simplest way to install WORD.DIC
into a user created dictionary is to load it in the word
processor, run it through Word's spell-checker, and save each
word to file individually. It's also possible to load WORD.DIC
as a complete file. See the *Microsoft Word manual for more
information.
BORLAND.DIC and WORDSTAR.DIC can be loaded as complete files by
using the DOS RENAME command to change their file names to file
names acceptable to *Borland's Turbo Lightning and *WordStar.
See the user manuals for more information.

The ELRAY.DIC file is intended for use with word processors such
as *PC-Write, *WordPerfect, *pfs:Write, *XyWrite and others with
built-in spell-checkers which can load or write ASCII text files.
Using *PC-Write 3.0 as an example, load the ELRAY.DIC file into
the word processor, run it through the spell-checker, and erase
each word in the ELRAY.DIC file that it recognizes. Close up the
blank spaces in the file with the word processor's editing
functions, RENAME the file WORDS.NUL, and load it in the same
directory or on the same disk as WORDS.MAS and WORDS.EXE. See the
*PC-Write user manual for more information.
Some word processors such as *XyWrite already contain
supplemental legal spell-checkers. Load the ELRAY.DIC file and
run it through both the main dictionary spell-checker and the
legal spell-checker. Add the words from the ELRAY.DIC file that
are in neither dictionary to the supplemental legal spell-checker.

PRINT.DIC is a complete list of the words in ELRAY.DIC, alphabetized
from left to right, but printed in five columns across the full width
of the monitor screen so that it can be loaded as a text file and used
in a window application. Similarly, it can be paginated and printed
out. Before loading PRINT.DIC for the first time (or immediately
after loading, depending on the word processor), be sure and adjust
the left margin to column 1, and the right margin to column 76, and
save these settings to file.
